The MSRA has some simple league guidlines to ensure that the season runs smoothly.
| Captain's Responsibilities |
| TEAM REGISTRATION |
Let the MSRA know your intent to captain a team by Oct 1, 2010. Email us to confirm your team. |
Create your roster online by Oct 8, 2010. You must have at least seven players (current MSRA/US Squash members) registered by Oct 8 to be included in the schedule. You may add additional players during the season. |
| PLAYER ELIGIBILITY & SUBS |
Players must be current MSRA/US Squash members to compete. Remind your players to renew memberships. It is impossible to enter match scores for a player with expired membership, so those matches will be automatically recorded as a default. |
A player may sub up for a higher level team up to three times per season. On the fourth match, that becomes his or her only team going forward. (Exception: a woman may play on both a women's team and a men's team.) |
Maintain an active roster with enough players ready to play every week. Have alternates available in case of last-minute schedule changes or injury. |
| MATCH PLAY |
Absolutely no reschedules are allowed. Matches must be played on the assigned night. |
All scoring is PAR-11 (Point a Rally, to 11 points) |
Defaults: any team with three team defaults' (where two or more players default in one night) may be expelled. |
| COURTS & SCHEDULING |
Reserve courts for all your home matches on Oct 18, once match schedule is final. Work with your club pro on this. |
Host captain is responsible for reserving courts and arranging for payment if applicable. (If you are hosting on your courts but its actually an 'away' game,
reserve the courts and collect money from opposing team.) |
Communicate in advance. Home Captain must contact visiting Captain to confirm match times, rosters, club location, and any club rules or dress code at least three days before match. Visiting Captain should respond in an appropriate time frame confirming visiting team's lineup. Captains can find opposing captain's contact information on the Teams webpage. |
| DAY OF THE MATCH |
| |
Home Captains supply new balls for matches, and score sheets for markers if used. |
| |
Captains are responsible for entering scores within 48 hours of match, or the match will be automatically defaulted. The MSRA recommends that winning captain but either captain or co-captain of either team can do it. Once scores have been entered, the other captain must confirm results as entered, or alter for accuracy. If results are altered, the opposing captain must then confirm. Any score disputes should be brought to League Chairs' attention. |
| |
Ensure your players follow the league rules. If a player is showing up late, not calling lets/clearing/giving strokes, or not wearing protective eyewear, address the player to maintain fair play. |
